Dodgers Complete Series Sweep In San Francisco

Hyun-Jin Ryu and the Dodgers completed the series sweep of the San Francisco Giants to take over first place in the NL West by a full game and a half after the 4-3 victory. Ryu picked up win number 12 after going for six innings. Ryu surrendered six hits, giving up three earned runs while striking out seven batters. Ryu walked one and gave up a solo home run to Buster Posey in the fifth inning, but received enough offensive support to pick up the victory. Ryu holds an ERA of 3.44. When Ryu has received five days rest in his MLB career as he did tonight, he is 10-2 with a 2.68 ERA. JP Howell took over in relief and got the game to former Giants closer and now Dodgers set up man Brian Wilson. Wilson worked his way around a walk and a load chorus of boos from his former fans, getting through the eighth inning scoreless and over to Kenley Jansen. Jansen struck out the side in the ninth for save number 30 this season. Jansen is the seventh Dodgers pitcher to record 30 saves in a season.

The Dodgers fell behind in the third but had he answer in the fourth. Hanley Ramirez led off the inning by sending a ground ball through the legs of second basemen Dan Uggla. Carl Crawford reached on a fielder’s choice, and Matt Kemp singled to left field. Juan Uribe drove in Crawford with a ground ball to left field and tied the game at one. Dee Gordon reached base in the fifth inning after striking out swinging but reaching first on the wild pitch. Yasiel Puig walked and moved to second on another wild pitch, one that also allowed Gordon to move to third. Adrian Gonzalez struck out swinging, but another wild pitch from Jake Peavy allowed Gordon to score from third and tie the game at two. Ramirez followed with a single, and Crawford tripled to knock in Ramirez from first and cap off a three run fifth inning. Ramirez finished the game 2-4 with an RBI. Kemp recorded two hits as well, joining Ramirez to combine for four of the six Dodger hits.

Los Angeles moves to 58-47 with the 4-3 win to close out the series. The Dodgers have the day off on Monday before welcoming in the Atlanta Braves for a three game set.
